The Soul Food series is a statement piece. I have been reflecting on the state of the world for some time now, and this work is my creative response.
While speaking with my grandfather, he remarked, "Now is the best time in America for Black people." His words prompted me to reflect on the immense hardships my ancestors endured and how, despite everything, they persevered. This monoprint series is my way of honoring them. It serves as a reminder that looking back at the past can be a source of strength and comfort.
